CIta of Mexico, 30 Jun. (askanews) – Xin Xin celebrates his 35th birthday at the Chapultepec zoo in Mexico. The female of giant panda, who lives in Mexico cities, is the only specimen of its species that does not belong to China. It was in fact conceived naturally and born in this Mexican zoo on July 1, 1990 and has been celebrated as a star since then.
Many visitors arrived for the occasion, many took pictures of her and left greeting cards, looking at her as she ate bamboo and played, and some authorities also intervened. A giant cake was also prepared.
Xin Xin is the grandson of two Panda donated to Mexico in ’75; The name means “hope”, and now it is one of the longest -lived pandas in the world since these animals usually live from 15 to 20 years in nature, while only 2% exceed 30 years. In 1975, China gave Mexico a pair of Panda named PE PE PE PE and YING YING, who had seven children at the Chapultepec zoo. Among these was Tohui, the mother of Xin Xin, the first Panda born and survived out of China, who died in 2022 at the age of 35.
