Cstarts tonight Leopardi – The poet of the infinitea two-part miniseries directed by Sergio Rubini (his first television direction) on the human and historical story of the great poet Giacomo. Co-produced by Rai FictionIBC Movie, Rai Com and Oplon Film.

The drama is a large costume production set and filmed between Recanati, the Marche, Bari and Puglia, Mantua, Turin, Rome, Naples and Bologna. And it gives the new generations an unprecedented yet historically coherent portrait of Giacomo Leopardi. A formidable genius, capable of setting fire to not only amorous passions but also political ideals with his verses. Free poet and averse to compromise who challenged his time, the Austrian invader, the Church and the very founders of the nascent Italian state.

The protagonist of the series is Leonardo Maltese, already appreciated in films Kidnapped by Marco Bellocchio e The Lord of the Ants by Gianni Amelio, for which he won the Guglielmo Biraghi Award at the Nastri D’Argento 2023. With him, Alessio Boni in the role of the austere father, Count Monaldo Leopardi. Valentina Cervi as the mother Adelaide Antici. Giusy Buscemi who plays the beloved Fanny Targioni Tozzetti, emblem of unattainable love magnified in her verses.
