The renewed attention for the Epstein file is a nasty thing for US President Donald Trump. Epstein had many powerful friends and acquaintances, including Trump himself, which gives rise to conspiracy theories about withheld information.

During his campaign, US President Donald Trump always said that he would reveal the details of the case. At the beginning of this month, however, the US government stated that there is no evidence for the existence of a secret list of Epstein customers. That announcement led to anger in a part of Trump’s supporters. Some of them have been asking for years to release the Epstein documents.
Part of Trumps supporters also claims that Maxwell is the key to more information about the circle around Epstein. According to her lawyer David Markus, Maxwell answered all questions during the interrogation, “honest and as good as she could.”
Appeal
On Monday she appealed to the Supreme Court. The former Socialite refers to a controversial settlement that Epstein met in 2007 with the public prosecutor’s office in the state of Florida. It states that “the United States will not set criminal prosecution against possible accomplices of Epstein, including but not limited to” four other suspects. Maxwell does not belong to those suspects, but according to her lawyer team that is not necessary and the protection of persecution also refers to her.

However, the Ministry of Justice says that former prosecutor Alex Acosta, who negotiated the settlement, had no legal authority on other districts, such as the southern district of New York, where Maxwell was ultimately tried and convicted. Federal courts are divided as to whether Maxwell should or should not be explained by the settlement.
