The biathlon World Cup has started and offered a lot of tension in the mixed relay. The victory went to France. The Germans also presented themselves in good shape.
The biathlon World Cup started in Lenzerheide on Wednesday. It started with the mixed relay. The German quartet around Selina Grotian, Franziska Preuß, Philipp Nawrath and Justus Strelow already showed a good shape-it became the bronze medal.
Selina Grotian led the field and showed well in shape. Before the first shooting, there was a fall in the field: both Frenchwoman Julia Simon and the Swede Anna Magnusson were on the ground. Simon lost her sticks and was given a new one from her French supervisor and one from the Swedish supervisor.
Groatian had to reload twice in the lying attack and sorted himself back in ninth. Finland and Poland led in front. However, the DSV biathlete presented herself in a strong runner and fought her way to sixth on the track. However, Grotian also missed twice in the standing stop and remained in sixth place. France handed over to Finland and Poland. Grotian sent Prussia into the race as the sixth.
Grotian said after her race on ZDF: “The material was really good today, it was still very hard. I had a little headache all day today, I’m really sorry for the team.”
For France, Lou now went into the race and delivered directly to the racing. Prussia made a mistake, but was the sixth of the shooting range. France also stayed in front after the standing stop. Prussia took the time when she arrived, but had to reload. She stayed in sixth place and handed over to Philipp Nawrath as fourth.
Nawrath came into his race well and, despite two releases, sorted himself in third place behind France and the Czech Republic. Norway also came closer to the top after miscarried. Sturla Holm Lægreid showed a perfect performance. Nawrath had to reload three times in the standing stop, but escaped a penalty round and kept Germany fourth in the race for the medals.
As the last German starter, Justus Strelow went into the race. And he delivered directly in the lying stop directly and sorted himself down in second place behind France. France had to go to a penalty after the last shooting. Nevertheless, Emilien Jaquelin stayed in front. Strelow secured Germany a medal.
