The DSV ski hunters cannot take the momentum from the relay with them. The Dominator delivers even after his emotional resignation announcement.

The German biathletes clearly missed a crowning conclusion to the home World Cup in Ruhpolding. As the best of the DSV quartet, Justus Strelow came seventh in the mass start over 15 kilometers, 30 seconds short of the podium after a penalty loop. Johannes Thingses Bö (2 penalties/+11.4 seconds) came third in the first race after his tearful retirement announcement.

Meanwhile, the other German starters made significantly more mistakes than Strelow. Danilo Riethmüller (5/+3:10.6 minutes) was not inspired by the red jersey of the leader in the mass start classification. After second place in Annecy-Le Grand Bornand, this time he only managed 28th position, meaning he had to give up the coveted bib again to Sturla Holm Lägreid. Philipp Nawrath (3/+1:05.7) came in eleventh, while Johannes Kühn (4/+1:51.5) came in 23rd.

At the front, Tommaso Giacomel from Italy Bö stole the show at the start of his farewell tour, taking his first World Cup victory with flawless shooting in 36:21.8 minutes. The Norwegian Lägreid came second (1/+6.3). After third place in the relay, the DSV ski hunters still have to wait for the third individual podium of the winter. Nawrath with third place in the Kontiolahti sprint and Riethmüller had already made it onto the podium.

From Friday the men will go to the World Cup dress rehearsal in Antholz. There, the sprint, relay and pursuit take place over three consecutive days before, after a short break in the heights of South Tyrol, the final preparation for the highlight of the year takes place. The World Championships in Lenzerheide/Switzerland will take place from February 12th to 23rd.
