German World Cup gymnasts are threatened with another World Cup cancellation

The German gymnasts are threatened with another injury-related failure at the World Championships in Antwerp.

Lea Quaas from Chemnitz complained of pain in her knee after a jump after podium training in the Sportpaleis.

The decision as to whether the 18-year-old can take part in the qualification on Monday (5.45 p.m.) should be made on Sunday. Anna-Lena König from Karlsruhe is available as a replacement.

The German squad, which wants to qualify for the 2024 Olympics in Paris at the world title fights in Belgium, already has to compensate for the absence of two top performers.

German record champion Elisabeth Seitz from Stuttgart (torn Achilles tendon) and last year’s European balance beam champion Emma Malewski from Chemnitz (foot injury) were unable to start.
