Significantly more light than shadows at the DTB! While the absolute elite at the French Open 2025 is honored, the greatest tries his luck on a rather smaller stage. Among them numerous hopefuls of German tennis, for whom Friday was quite gratifying.
Five German tennis talents reached the semi-finals or already the final on Friday as part of the ITF tour: Rudolf Molleker is already in the M25 tournament in Bol (Croatia) in the preliminary round, Diego Dedura already celebrated the final in the Austrian Warmbad Villach (M15), the same applies to Nastasja Schunk and Valentina Steiner and Tessa Johanna Brockmann or Gina Dittmann reach the round of the last four in Merzig (Germany/W15).
Molleker (number 392 of the world rankings) pointed out the Slovak Alex Molcan 6-2 and 6: 2. After the German has rarely been able to celebrate more than one win in a row in the past few weeks, Bol is currently running like clockwork. On the way to the final, however, the strong Frenchman Dan Added is waiting (number 361 of the world rankings) on Saturday.
Diego Dedura and Nastasja Schunk reach for the title
The 17-year-old Diego Dedura (number 386 of the world rankings) can finally recharge your mind after a few successful weeks at larger tournaments away from the very big hustle and bustle. With a 7: 6-6: 2 success over the Slovak Milos Karol (number 407 of the world rankings), the DTB-Youngster moved into the final in Warmbad-Villach. The opponent there is the Argentinian Alex Barrena (number 376 of the world rankings) set in position there.
Barrena defeated 28-year-old German Tim Handel 7: 6 and 6: 2 in his semi-finals.
In his own place, Nastasja Schunk (number 302 of the world rankings) also applies to the title. The 21-year-old was 7: 6 and 6: 4. Schunk, which had been struggling with injury problems in recent years, won her last tournament in 2021.
The 18-year-old Valentina Steiner (number 842 of the world rankings) is also in the preliminary round on local soil. In Merzig, Steiner bought the cut in Belgian Tamila Gadamauri with 7: 5 and 6: 0.
In the semifinals, however, a much thicker chunk is waiting with the Dutchman Anouk Vrancken Peeter (number 519 of the world rankings).
Speaking of Merzig: With Gina Dittmann (number 749 of the world rankings) and Tessa Brockmann (number 580 of the world rankings), two German talents are still fighting another semi -final ticket. The winner meets Stefania Bojica from Romania on Saturday (number 592 of the world rankings).
