After the upswing in September, German retail trade weakened again in October.

In October, sales fell by 0.3 percent (in real terms) compared to the previous month, the Federal Statistical Office announced on Friday in Wiesbaden. On average, analysts had expected an increase of 0.2 percent after revenues rose by a revised 0.3 percent in the previous month.

Sales were weaker in online and mail order sales as well as in non-foodstuffs. However, sales in the food retail sector increased.
