German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is on a surprise visit to Ukraine today. He arrived in the morning by train in the capital Kiev. There he will also meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during the day. Steinmeier is in Ukraine for the first time since the start of the war on February 24, after two previous failed attempts to travel to the country.
