At the end of the season, Leon Draisaitl failed due to injury. Nevertheless, it is now clear: The German ice hockey professional is the best scorer in the strongest league in the world for the first time.

He has already received several awards – now there is another title: Leon Draisaitl has secured the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy for the first time in his career.

The German ice hockey star of Edmonton Oilers scored 52 goals in the past season of the National Hockey League (NHL) and was the most successful goal scorer. The 29-year-old missed several games due to injury at the end of the season, but nobody could contest his lead.

Behind Draisaitl, William Nylander landed from the Toronto Maple Leafs with 45 goals. Alexander Owetschkin (Washington Capitals) and days of Thompson (Buffalo Sabres) each scored 44 goals.

Draisaitl had previously completed the NHL goalkeeper list twice. His personal best is 55 goals of the season. In the 2019/20 season, the Cologne native had already been awarded the Art Ross Trophy as a top scorer as well as the Ted Lindsay Award and the Hart Trophy as the most valuable player.

Nikita Kutscherow from the Tampa Bay Lightning won the title as the best player as in the previous year. With 121 scorer points he led the statistics. Draisaitl finished third with 106 points from 71 games.

Connor Hellebuyck from the Winnipeg Jets received the William M. Jennings Trophy. The goalkeeper of the best team in the main round conceded very few goals in the league and is considered a favorite for further individual awards. Hellebuyck could be chosen both the best goalkeeper and the best player of the season.
