German gamer takes fourth place at Fortnite World Cup

The 18-year-old German Fortnite talent “Cheetiin” and his Swedish duo partner “Pixie” took fourth place in the Fortnite World Cup finals. The real names of the two players were not disclosed by the organizer Epic Games.

Previously, the duo only barely made it into the bracket stage in tenth place in the Last Chance Major. This tournament was the last opportunity for the players to qualify for the World Cup.

The following lower bracket went smoothly for Cheetiin and Pixie. With a win in round two and an eighth place in the overall standings, a place in the final was assured.

In the final, the German-Swedish players initially catapulted themselves into second place thanks to a good balance between defensive and offensive play. However, they lost momentum in the final rounds and finished the tournament in fourth place.

The Canadian Matthew “Mero” Faitel and the American “Cooper”, whose real name was also not disclosed, became world champions.

First Fortnite World Cup since 2019

For the first time there was a Fortnite World Cup in 2019 with a gigantic total prize money of 30 million US dollars. In the following years the competition was canceled due to the corona pandemic.

This year the World Cup took place in the Royal Arena in Copenhagen after a long break. The 73 teams had a chance to win prize money of almost $4 million.
