The accident occurred in the Karakoram Mountains. According to a statement from her management, Dahlmeier was working on a trip on Monday with her climbing partner when she was hit by falling stones. The accident happened around noon local time at a height of approximately 5,700 meters.
The climbing partner immediately called the emergency number and the rescue operation was started immediately. According to Bild Dahlmeier was able to communicate with her climbing partner Marina Krauss, who is in good health after the accident. Rescue actions were set up to be able to find Dahlmeier alive, but that was without success.
Career Dahlmeijer
Dahlmeier already put an end to her career in 2019, at the age of barely 25. She said goodbye with seven world titles (including five at the 2017 World Cup) and two Olympic titles (Sprint and chase in Pyeongchang 2018, plus bronze individually).
In 2017 she won the World Cup. Dahlmeier, born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, often traveled through the mountains in recent years and was considered an experienced climber. She was also often seen on German television as an analyst at important biathlon competitions.
Robert Grasegger
Three years ago Dahlmeier lost her then friend Robert Grasegger. Both liked to do mountain climbing, but in January 2022 things went wrong during a climb in Patagonia, South American, when he was buried under an avalanche.
