German duo surprises at World Cup dress rehearsal – relay victory

On Friday in the individual, Vanessa Voigt narrowly missed the podium. A day later they even took first place.

Vanessa Voigt and Justus Strelow surprisingly took first place in the single mixed relay. At the World Cup dress rehearsal in Antholz, the two German biathletes excelled on the shooting range and only made one mistake.

“We stuck with ourselves from the beginning,” explained Justus Strelow on ARD. “I was very confident, that gave me a good flow.” He described the finish with the German flag as “unbelievable”. Vanessa Voigt felt the same way: “It’s simply indescribable, my first World Cup victory. When Justus sank the last shot, I was just happy.”

The Norwegian duo of Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen and Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold took second place with five errors. In third place: Simon Eder and Lisa Theresa Hauser from Austria (three errors). Italy and Latvia followed in fourth and fifth place. The French duo disappointed in seventh place.
