Jenny Nowak Fifth, Nathalie Armbruster eighth: The German combiners ended the World Cup in Trondheim without the hoped -for single medal.
While defending champion Gyda Westvold Hansen (Norway) won her third gold medal in a row in the constant rain of Trondheim, the main favorite was fellow favorite.
“Of course it is sad that something like this happens at a world championship,” said Armbruster (19), who after a weak jump to 87.0 m only went into the cross -country skiing. There Nowak was allowed to hope for a medal, but silver and bronze went to Ida Marie Hagen (Norway) and Lisa Hirner (Austria).
Armbruster and Nowak won silver in mixed with Vinzenz Geiger and Julian Schmid on Friday. “At least nobody can take that anymore,” said Armbruster. In contrast, both of them had also left empty in the mass start.
Maria Gerboth and World Cup debutante Ronja Loh (19) performed well at the end of the title fights in Norway in ranks 13 and 20. Because the combiners have no competitions on the Großchanze, crossbowers and Co. will go back to Germany on Tuesday.
The season is far from over: crossbowers can be on the 15th/16th. March on the Großchanze in Oslo as the first German win the overall World Cup.
