German biathlon relay team on the podium at home World Cup!

The German biathletes finally took their first podium place in the third relay race of the season.

Justus Strelow, Danilo Riethmüller, Johannes Kühn and Philipp Nawrath finished third at the home World Cup in Ruhpolding. In total, the DSV quartet used 14 spare rounds and thus achieved an even better placing.

In the end, national coach Uros Velepec’s protégés were 58.8 seconds behind the victorious French. They are the measure of all things this season, because they also won the third season of the season in a superior manner.

The Swedes secured second place, finishing 38.4 seconds behind France.

Nawrath keeps his nerve

Last year the German men finished second behind Norway in Ruhpolding. So far this winter we have achieved fourth place in Kontiolahti and fifth place in Hochfilzen.

After two spare rounds, Strelow handed over to Riethmüller in fifth place. The 25-year-old barely avoided the penalty in the standing position, but brought the DSV quartet up to third place – 32 seconds behind leaders France.

Kühn then fell back to fifth place, but final runner Nawrath kept his nerve and was able to keep the Norwegians at bay, who had to settle for fourth place after a total of three penalty laps.
