Gerard Joling is known as an extravagant artist, but he is already 65 years old and how long can you keep that up? “There is a chance that it will become a bit sad,” it sounds.

Not every famous Dutch person succeeds in aging with dignity: while André van Duin succeeded well in this and exchanged his funny pelvis for a chic TV career at Omroep MAX, Henny Huisman is now full-time. desperate begging for a TV comeback and we see Paul de Leeuw making wan-TV with C-stars like Sjorleone. Sad.

A bit sad

Gerard Joling is still a big A-star. “He of course said in his own series: ‘If you sing too long at my age, it will eventually become a bit sad,’” notes presenter Tooske Ragas in Show news.

Celebrity expert Bart Ettekoven: “Then he added: ‘That’s actually it.’”

Private boss Evert Santegoeds: “You don’t think he’ll stop singing and entertaining, do you? That’s just his life. When he’s on holiday for a week, he’s already walking around a shopping center singing.”

‘Until he’s 90’

Tooske finds it remarkable that Gerard is thinking about it at all. “Yes, but now he talks about it a bit every now and then. He hasn’t done that at all in the past.”

Evert: “He turned 65 last year and 66 this year. He’s talking about being around 70. That’s four more years to start with and by then he’ll reach the age of 80, just like Charles Aznavour who did it until he was 90 and Frank Sinatra, you name them all.”

Never never

Bart thinks that Gerard would never quit voluntarily. “This man is never ever going to stop.”

Evert: “He can’t live without it. That man really doesn’t stop.”

How does Geer himself view it? “Someday, yes. That date has not yet been set, but as soon as I set it, you will be the first one I call. Hahaha. Do you know what it is? Everyone is replaceable. Me too. I am very aware of that. But now everything is running at full speed. A new song will be released in two weeks, a whole album is ready.”

Plumage

Gerard is looking forward to selling that new album. “We will also promote that today or tomorrow. As long as I feel good, stay healthy and, above all, my voice continues to do well, then we are very happy.”

Evert concludes: “When you see him jumping with such a plumage, I think: maybe that will become pathetic at some point, but that’s not the case with him. That’s just part of him.”
