Earlier Tuesday it was announced that Depardieu will still be charged and prosecuted for rape of actress Charlotte Arnould in 2018. “Seven years later, seven years full of horrors and hell,” the actress responded to social media. Arnould has been accusing Depardieu for years of repeated sexual abuse in his house in Paris, but was initially told that there was insufficient evidence.
Sexual misconduct
Depardieu has been chased for some time by accusations of sexual misconduct. This year he received a suspended prison sentence of eighteen months for assault on a film set in 2021.
The actor has previously contradicted that he has raped Arnould. “I have never, but never really, abused a woman,” he wrote to the newspaper Le Figaro in 2023.
