Georgia chooses successor pro-European president who does not want to leave

The Georgian electoral college is voting on who should succeed pro-European President Salome Zurabishvili. Her term officially ends on Monday, but she has already indicated that she does not want to leave. According to the president, there was fraud in the parliamentary elections at the end of October; it therefore does not recognize parliament. For this reason, she said, the result of Saturday’s vote would not apply.
