Towards the end of the 2024 Formula 1 season, it crashed tremendously between George Russell and Red Bull Pilot Max Verstappen. After the severe mutual allegations, there was no agreement – and that will probably no longer exist, as the British Mercedes driver said on Tuesday.
Since an incident during qualifying at the Grand Prix of Qatar, nothing has been between George Russell and Max Verstappen as it used to be. After the qualification, the Mercedes pilot vehemently complained about the driving style of the four-time Formula 1 world champion in Red Bull services.
Both ended up for hearing at the Rennstewards – and in fact Verstappen lost his pole position on the second -placed British due to a subsequent block maneuver against Russell.
At the season finale in Abu Dhabi, the Zoff continued: Verstappen accused Russell of lying on during the hearing.
The Mercedes pilot did not leave this and made fundamental problems with the Dutch: “People have been harassed by Max for years, and you shouldn’t be able to question your driving skills. But he cannot deal with adverseities.”
Russell about Verstappen: “Weren’t any more best friends”
The two Formula 1 stars have apparently not cleared their differences over the winter break.
“We didn’t speak, but honestly I don’t have the intention to change that,” Mercedes driver Russell said at a press conference in the run-up to the opening of the season in London and noticed: “We are no longer making best friends, that’s clear. “
The 27-year-old declared his basic criticism of Verstappen with the behavior of “Mad Max” against his World Cup rival Lando Norris.
“I was a bit frustrated when I saw the season at the top last year,” said Russell: “Max drove harder and harassed the others, showed his aggressiveness in a way that nobody opposed anything.”
Verstappen kept short before the large Formula 1 presentation on Tuesday evening. “It’s okay, we get on,” the defending champion only said.
