There is increasing interest among Dutch people for a home in Spain, according to sales figures for the first six months. The Dutch have almost overtaken the Germans. In addition to retired sun seekers, real estate agents see a growing number of young people and investors fleeing their own country. Dutch people bought 4,166 houses in Spain in the first six months. That is almost 19 percent more than in the same period a year earlier. The Dutch are thus approaching the German buyers, who struck 4,756 times in the first half of the year. The British are just a thousand houses above that. The Murcia region is particularly popular with Dutch buyers, with 15.2 percent of purchases. This is followed by the regions of Valencia (14.9 percent) and Andalusia (11.8 percent), according to figures from the Spanish organization for notaries.
