Georg Zimmermann fell heavily on the ninth stage and still fought to the finish. However, he will no longer break into the mountains on Monday.

The German champion Georg Zimmermann fell on Sunday at the Tour de France and then fought himself to the finish. At first it was said that he had no broken bones and wanted to continue-but then the team Intermarché-Wanty announced a change of course.

As the team announced on Instagram, Georg Zimmermann will no longer start at the 10th stage. On Monday, the drivers go to the mountains.

Intermarché-Wanty said: “After his fall in the 9th stage of the Tour de France, Georg Zimmermann was closely observed by our team doctor, and it was decided not to continue the race. The entire team wishes him a quick recovery and will miss his fighting spirit.”

Zimmermann had to be sewn in two places after his fall. Although he was spared a fracture, the German had no good idea. He said on Sunday after the stage: “I’m worried if I can keep my handlebar, but I am determined to continue the Tour de France.” Now that came out.
