A 2006 world champion is said to set up the crisis Squadra Azzurra: Gennaro Gattuso. He will be presented as a new trainer promptly.
A 2006 World Cup hero is said to lead the crisping Squadra Azzurra out of the sporty low. The long-time Milan professional Gennaro Gattuso is the new national coach in Italy. Italy’s football association (FIGC) announced this on Sunday afternoon. Gattuso is to be officially presented next Thursday.
“Gattuso is a symbol of Italian football”, FIGC President Gabriele Gravina quotes in the message, “the blue jersey is like a second skin for him. His motivation, professionalism and experience will be of fundamental importance in order to master the upcoming tasks of the national team as best as possible.”
Italy’s team coordinator Gianluigi Buffon had already confirmed on Saturday that Gattuso would take over. Buffon told the Italian radio station Rai that only “last details” had to be clarified. “The president and the whole association have had busy days, but I think we ended up making the best choice”.
Gattuso will probably initially sign a one-year contract. For the former coach of the Italian clubs SSC Naples and AC Milan, it would be the first stop as a national coach.
Previously, the national team had caught a prominent cancellation in search of a successor for the released Luciano Spalletti. Desired candidate Claudio Ranieri, the 73 -year -old previous coach of AS Rome, spoke of a “great honor”, but then decided differently after some thought. He wants to concentrate on his role as a consultant at Roma.
