The world of Italian and international motorcycling mourns the passing of Genesio Bevilacqua66 years old, historic World Championship team manager Superbikessuccessful entrepreneur and true lover of two wheels. Grew up in Civita Castellanain the Viterbo area, where in his youth he had also played rugby, Bevilacqua linked his name to sporting exploits that marked an era, demonstrating how competence, vision and a visceral passion for motorbikes could lead even a simple private team to compete, and win, against the official giants. His life was constantly in balance between business and racing, between factory and paddock, always with the noise of the engines in the background.

sporting triumphs

The sporting history of Genesio Bevilacqua is obviously linked to his most famous “creature”, Althea Racinga team he founded in 2007 and led with determination and competence to the top of the Superbike world championship. The moment that definitively consigned him to the history of motors came in 2011a season destined to remain engraved in the memory of fans. Althea it was Ducati’s reference team in SBK at the time, but it was essentially private. Nonetheless, the Viterbo structure sensationally managed to win the world title with the Spaniard Carlos Checa riding one 1098Ran enormous undertaking that few would have bet on on the eve of it. And, as if that wasn’t enough, in the same season Althea also triumphed in the Superstock 1000, a success signed by Davide Giugliano with the 1198 certifying the strength of a winning project on multiple fronts. In 2016 the team repeated the Superstock 1000 title with Raffaele De Rosathis time on a BMW S 1000 RR.

Motorcycle of the Myths

However, Genesio Bevilacqua’s passion for motorbikes was not limited to competitions, on the contrary. In fact, it was from this profound love that she was born Motorcycle of the Mythshis private collection which over time has evolved into a real cultural project. There are dozens of motorbikes that Bevilacqua researched, purchased, restored and often took to the track during his life, a set of vehicles full of history and meaning that from 2017 it has been transformed into an authentic museum open to the public, in “his” Civita Castellana. Inside there are true icons of motorcycling: from the historic Ducatis of MotoGP and Superbike to the Cagiva 500, from the world champion Suzuki 500 of Marco Lucchinelli to his friend’s world championship Morbidelli 125 Paolo Pileripassing through numerous rare and fascinating models that tell of decades of technical and sporting evolution. A place that perfectly reflects the spirit of Bevilacqua and which has now become a fixed destination for two-wheel enthusiasts who pass through those parts.

dreams and passion

Parallel to racing, Genesio Bevilacqua has built a solid career as an entrepreneur with Althea Ceramicsa company he founded in 1994 and over time it has become an established reality in the ceramic sector at an international level. Even in this area, Bevilacqua brought the same vision that made him great in motorsport, especially in terms of targeted investments, pursuit of quality and ability to look ahead. With his passing, one goes genuine and charismatic figure of modern motorcycling, a man capable of demonstrating that dreams, if supported by work and passion, can truly become reality.
