For its sixteenth edition, Ostend Film Festival (FFO) has proposed Gene Bervoets as master. As an actor he is known for theatre, film and television, including the series Windkracht 10 and Beau Séjour, and the film SM-rechter. Bervoets chooses ‘Rebel, sans Gene: Come as you are’ as the overarching theme.
“That has two meanings. First of all, it is being shameless without any obstacles. But for me it also means without Gene, so without me. It is not about me,” Bervoets explains. The actor wants to open the doors as wide as possible with the theme. It is an ode to diversity and an investigation into how people can deal together with a world that is changing ever faster.
