The accusation fell like a bomb in the auditorium and immediately spread through social networks. Upon receiving the Martín Fierro for Best Political Program in the first edition of the awards dedicated to streaming, Pedro Rosemblat launched a phrase that condensed the latent tension between the country’s main digital channels. “For me, in particular, it gives me special joy to beat Carajo, which of the channels financed with the reserved funds of the SIDE is my favorite”he said from the stage, between applause, awkward laughter and exchanged glances. With that statement, the host of “Industria Nacional”, Gelatina’s flagship political series, which beat the programs “La misa” by Carajo and “Multiverse Fantino” by Neura in its shortlist, not only celebrated the award but also publicly opened a crack that already existed quietly within the Argentine streaming ecosystem.
The scene took place during the delivery of the Martín Fierro from Streamingan event that sought to legitimize an expanding industry but ended up functioning as a precise x-ray of the ideological tensions that cross digital communication in Argentina. Far from neutrality or a festive tone, the ceremony became a space of symbolic dispute where artistic recognition coexisted with political accusations, explicit positions and gestures that reinforced the polarization of the public debate.
Nac & Pop. Pedro Rosemblat He is one of the central figures of this new media map. Political activist, communicator and reference of a generation that found in streaming an alternative channel to traditional media, he hosts “Industria Nacional” on Gelatina, a channel born as a self-managed project and that quickly grew in audience and influence. His program combines political analysis, humor and conversation with guests from the cultural and academic world, with a critical look at economic, media, political and libertarian power. Gelatina is defined, in fact, as a progressive space, opposed to the current government of Javier Milei and close to a tradition of national and popular Kirchnerist thought, something that Rosemblat never hid and that was once again exposed in his speech.
The direct mention of Fuckthe channel led by Daniel Parisiniknown as the Fat Danactivated an immediate controversy. Carajo is identified with a discourse aligned with the libertarian ruling party and with provocative rhetoric that seeks to challenge a young audience, disenchanted with traditional politics. The insinuation that the channel would be financed by reserved SIDE funds was interpreted by its members and followers as a serious accusation, although not unprecedented in the climate of crossed suspicions that dominates public conversation.
Regardless of the veracity or not of that statement, the episode revealed the dispute over legitimacy and independence in a territory where the borders between militancy, journalism and entertainment are increasingly blurred.
The rift deepened with another of the most talked-about speeches of the night. Julia Mengolini won the shortlist for Best News Program and celebrated its victory with a message with strong political content. After thanking her for the award, the journalist harshly questioned the Government and rejected any expectation of moderation. She said she was not willing to remain silent in the face of what she considers a social and democratic setback, and underlined the impact of official policies in sensitive areas such as health, science and retirees. His triumph, above figures like Esteban Trebucqwas read as a sign of support for a critical editorial line and consolidated Futurerock as one of the most influential progressive poles of Argentine streaming.
Official streamer. In contrast, the gesture of Gordo Dan in front of the Martín Fierro de Oro awarded to Conicet added another chapter to the controversy: “It is the highest level of kukism I have ever seen in my life”said. The “Fundo del Mar” scientific transmission award was celebrated by broad cultural sectors as a recognition of the value of scientific dissemination on digital platforms. However, criticism emerged from Carajo and other related spaces that ridiculed the jury’s decision and questioned the place of science in these types of awards. The reactions, amplified on social networks, ended up reinforcing the image of two opposing universes, with clearly differentiated values and audiences.
In this framework it also appears Blendera channel that, without denying the analysis of current events, chooses a less confrontational profile and more oriented towards entertainment, culture and the crossing of formats. Its more ambiguous position within the ideological map makes it an example of the diversity that characterizes streaming, a space where militant projects and commercial proposals that challenge traditional categories coexist.
The first installment of the Martín Fierro de Streaming thus left a certainty. Streaming is no longer just a format or a passing fad, but a central territory of the cultural and political dispute in Argentina.
