“The breast fillets have been removed, possibly with the intention of eating the meat,” says Miriam Bosman of Dierenambulance Amstelland. The cadavers were noticed yesterday by the owner of one of the islands in the Westeinderplassen. The man initially reported this to news photographer Laurens Niezen.

“We went there with his boat and removed them from the water. The serious injuries immediately stood out when we removed the carcasses from the water. Then we reported it to the animal ambulance,” he says.

The animal ambulance picked up the dead geese this morning and discovered that they had been shot. Animal ambulance Amstelland has reported this to the Dierenpolitie, which says to NH to start an investigation.
