Gas leak in Spandau residential building – 40 residents evacuated

Due to a gas leak in an apartment in Berlin-Spandau, an eight-storey residential building was completely evacuated on Wednesday evening.

A spokesman for the fire department said a total of 40 people had to leave the building. After about an hour, however, the danger was eliminated and the residents were allowed to return to their homes.

The emergency services were initially alerted to a gas smell in the building. On site, they found that gas was actually flowing out of an apartment, as the spokesman explained.

The supplier then stopped the gas supply and the house was ventilated. The reason for the exit was initially unclear. According to the information, no one was injured.
