Gant and Wrangler announce joint collection

Sportswear brand Gant has announced a collaboration with denim brand Wrangler, in which both brands celebrate their origins in the USA in the 1940s and draw on their extensive archives. The result is a 30-piece capsule collection, launching this fall.

The men’s and women’s jeans, apparel and accessories explore “the intersections between East Coast prep and western denim,” according to the two brands. These include bootcut jeans with varsity emblems, a varsity jacket with an embroidered western motif, and a faux fur-lined denim jacket inspired by rock legends of the ’60s and ’70s.

“Working with Wrangler was incredibly fun. From the moment I first met Sean, I knew we were on the same wavelength. We’re both vintage nerds and we’ve found that we have a lot of unexpected similarities in our archives. The confrontation between the stories of our two brands takes place in 2022 and has produced some remarkable pieces,” commented Gant’s Creative Director Christopher Bastin in a statement.

“Wrangler and Gant pioneered the rise of casual Americana design in America in the 1950s. While Wrangler embodied the western lifestyle with pioneering products like signature western jeans, jackets and shirts, Gant focused on preppy style with its signature button-down shirts. The stories may differ – Wrangler dressed rodeo stars and ranch hands, while Gant defined the collegiate look – but both brands left a lasting mark on culture. The DNA of both of us is reflected in every piece of this ode to our shared history,” adds Sean Gormley, Global Concept Director, Modern at Wrangler.
