Back in February of this year, game retailer GameStop announced a partnership with Immutable X, a company specializing in the construction of NFT platforms, which is to develop an NFT marketplace for GameStop. “The partnership will establish a fund of up to $100 million in Immutable X IMX tokens, which the parties plan to use for grants to non-fungible token (“NFT”) content and technology creators “, the press release also says. These grants are intended to encourage artists, content creators and developers to use the platform.

GameStop launches crypto wallet

As the US company announced on May 23 via Twitter and press release, the GameStop crypto wallet is now available for download. This allows players and other users to store, send, receive and use cryptocurrencies and NFTs in decentralized apps. The GameStop wallet will also enable transactions with GameStop’s future NFT marketplace. According to the press release, this should already start in the second quarter of the company’s financial year.

The games retailer’s wallet is currently available as a browser add-on, but a smartphone app will follow at a later date. Browser add-ons are small programs that can be found in most browser menus under Tools or Settings, and usually appear as icons in the browser window next to the address or search bar.
