Sinsheim (dpa) – Borussia Dortmund’s top striker Erling Haaland was replaced in the 3-2 Bundesliga victory at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
The 21-year-old soccer professional grabbed his pubic bone several times before being replaced by midfielder Axel Witsel after just over an hour. Haaland had previously hurt his knee after a duel in the first half. However, after the Norwegian lay on the grass for several minutes, things continued. Highly sought after across Europe, Haaland has scored 16 goals in 14 Bundesliga appearances this season. He also scored again in the top game success in Sinsheim – to make it 1-0 early on.
A diagnosis was initially pending, and coach Marco Rose did not yet know any details. “We have to investigate that. I really can’t say anything yet,” said Rose in the subsequent press conference. After an international break, the Bundesliga will not be played again for another two weeks.
