Danilo explains the choice to go and play in Puerto Rico: “I live in Miami, it was important to have family close by. I know how the NBA works, if they don’t give me another opportunity this year I don’t think I’ll go back. But I still want to the blue, for a summer. I would end with Italy, I don’t know with basketball…”
It makes little sense just from the outside. From the inside, for him, Puerto Rico is the right choice for what he has in mind for his present and his future: returning to the field, being close to his family, keeping an open door for the NBA and preparing for his last great goal, a blue summer with which to say goodbye to the national team. From Paris, where he is one of the VIP guests of the NBA party for Victor Wembanyama and of the double match between San Antonio Spurs and Indiana Pacers, Danilo Gallinari talks about the reasons for this last, unexpected stage of his career, recalling that from Italy “I don’t he never looked for anyone, even if I had thought about it” and reveals his dream of a farewell with Italy. “To the national team, not to basketball” he specifies.
