Troubled Galatasaray Istanbul has made the third winter transfer. On Thursday evening, the Turkish record champions officially introduced the Chilean international Erick Pulgar. The 28-year-old midfielder is on loan from traditional Italian club Fiorentina until the end of the season. In Tuscany, Pulgar, who cost 12.3 million euros in 2019, is under contract until 2023.
With a market value of EUR 8.5 million, Pulgar is the most valuable gala entry of the current season at the time of the transfer. In that regard, however, things have recently gone downhill for the free-kick specialist with the Viola, in August 2020 Pulgar was still valued at 15 million euros. A seed at the start of the season under coach Vincenzo Italiano, he fell a little behind after suffering an ankle injury in October and has only played for ten minutes in Serie A since then.
Update 9:41 p.m.:Galatasaray also confirmed the return of Semih Kaya on Thursday, the evening of the registration deadline for the European Cup player lists. The homegrown player last played for Yeni Malatyaspor, but had terminated his contract there at the end of the year. He is therefore free of charge. The 30-year-old central defender made 209 appearances (5 goals/5 assists) for the “Löwen” between 2009 and 2019.
