Gabriel Clemens fails in the World Cup dress rehearsal in the semi-finals

The German darts professional Gabriel Clemens confirmed his good form on Sunday and made it to the semi-finals of the Players Championship Finals.

There it was over against a very strong Michael van Gerwen (Netherlands), Clemens lost to the three-time world champion 6:11.

Previously he was ranked 36th in the world rankings in Minehead, England. Thanks to a strong doubles rate of 44 percent, Luke Woodhouse (England) was defeated 10:7 and thus secured his ticket to the semi-finals. The Saarwellingen player was already two legs ahead early in the game and never relinquished his lead.

Clemens then found no means against van Gerwen. The Dutchman presented himself as ice-cold and extremely variable and will now face Luke Humphries or Ryan Joyce (both England) in the final.

Clemens was the last German in the field of the £600,000 tournament, which is considered a dress rehearsal for the upcoming World Cup in London (December 15th to January 3rd). Ricardo Pietreczko failed in round two, Martin Schindler and Daniel Klose in round one.
