Future Islands will visit Germany in May 2024 to play three gigs in this country. With them: their seventh studio album PEOPLE WHO AREN’T THERE ANYMORE, which they released on January 26th this year.
From a long-distance relationship to a new album
The press release for PEOPLE WHO AREN’T THERE ANYMORE states that the new release is the work of a band that is at a turning point. This associated freedom to use new avenues probably “led to the most complete, transparent and honest statement in their 17-year band history.” Singer Samuel Herring’s long-distance relationship provided the basis for many of the personal lyrics. The fight over the ultimately failed love affair runs like a red thread through the current record, which is now to be brought live on stage.
