According to Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn, only two British mega duels are possible for the heavyweight star in 2025.
“AJ is planning to fight around May, June. For me there are really only two fights: one is the Dubois rematch and the other is Tyson Fury,” emphasized the Englishman at “boxingscene.com”.
Joshua lost to Dubois last fall in the fight for the IBF World Championship in front of 98,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium by knockout in the fifth round. Fury recently suffered his second defeat in a row against heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk.
Because the superstars lost in unison, the long-awaited British blockbuster has come back into focus.
“There’s no bigger fight commercially than AJ vs. Fury. People hate me for saying that. Give me a bigger fight commercially – it doesn’t exist,” Hearn said. The promoter also made it clear that Joshua also wanted a rematch against Dubois.
Asked whether Joshua would wait for the outcome of the duel between Dubois and Joseph Parker on February 22nd before planning his next steps, Hearn replied: “Unless Frank Warren (Fury’s promoter, editor) and Spencer Brown (Fury’s manager, editor) would come here and say: ‘Let’s go – let’s do Fury.'”

However, he assumes that after his second defeat against Usyk, Fury will not concern himself with the boxing business in the coming months, said the 45-year-old. Fury will rather take January and February off. “And then – what are you going to do? You either pack up or fight AJ,” Hearn put himself in the shoes of the “Gypsy King.”
The fight between his protégé and Fury is “so big that you always expect it to happen,” said the promoter. However, it is questionable whether Joshua will get a revenge against Dubois so quickly. “Dubois has to beat Parker first and I don’t think so.”
