Füchse Berlin remain on the road to success in the Handball Bundesliga. On Saturday evening, in front of 6287 spectators in the Max-Schmeling-Halle, the Berliners clearly won against TVB Stuttgart with 31:21 (17:10).

With the third win in the third game of the season, the foxes conquered the top of the table at least until Sunday. The best Berlin throwers were Tim Freihöfer and Hans Lindberg with six goals each.

With the hosts, coach Jaron Siewert returned to the sidelines after suffering a minor stroke. His team initially found it surprisingly difficult against the outsider. The Berliners made many technical mistakes and found hardly any solutions against the aggressive cover of the Swabians in attack. So the Berliners were 4:6 behind. Two seven meters saved by keeper Victor Kireev didn’t help either.

But after 15 minutes newcomer Mathias Gidsel came into play. And with the Dane there was more speed in the actions of the hosts. Gidsel literally swept his team along, won the ball, created space for others and also scored. After a 13:4 run, the foxes were able to go into the break with a comfortable lead.

After the change of sides, the Berliners had everything under control, but were careless with their chances. Again and again they failed because of ex-Berliner Silvio Heinevetter. But since the Stuttgart team didn’t do any better either, the foxes’ lead remained comfortable until the end.
