Former Bundesliga professional Jan Kirchhoff is leaving VfB Stuttgart after around two and a half years and joining FSV Mainz 05. Instead of the U17 youth team at Swabians, the 33-year-old will now look after the U19 team at zero five. The UEFA A license holder takes over from Benjamin Hoffmann, who was recently given responsibility for the club’s U23 team. Kirchhoff made most of his Bundesliga appearances in his career for Mainz 05 and is now taking the next step in his coaching career at FSV.

“It feels incredibly good to come home again and work at the club that I owe a lot to. I’m really looking forward to working with an exceptional team. I have many fond memories of this place. Nevertheless, a lot has happened on the Bruchweg, and that’s a good thing. Now I’m looking forward to getting started, getting to know everything new, growing, learning from what has emerged here over the years, absorbing the culture and doing my part to make it even better,” explained Kirchhoff, who has a contract until 2027 receives.
