Frustrating evening FC Volendam against NEC

FC Volendam had a very disappointing evening in Nijmegen. The team went down hard against NEC: 3-0. However, Volendam remains in fourteenth place.

Robert Mühren, Derry John Murkin and Bilal Ould-Chikh were missing from the Volendam team. On the other hand, the return of Filip Stankovic was under the crossbar. The year-old goalkeeper suffered an injury and was back on the training field yesterday. Gaetano Oristanio played (pending his disciplinary case) again from the beginning. There was a dream start for the Palingboeren, but a bet by Calvin Twigt was just turned by Jasper Cillessen.

Via Elayis Tavsan, the Nijmegen team became dangerous for the first time. The former Telstar player’s shot went wide of Stankovic’s goal. Moments later, the Serb almost let a free kick from Oussama Tannane slip. The ball was barely caught in front of the line. Stankovic and Xavier Mbuyamba made sure that 0-0 remained with a great chance from NEC. Franco Antonucci had another shot opportunity before the break, Cillesen stopped that shot.

Things went wrong for Volendam in the second half. After a corner from Lasse Schöne, the ball ended up with Iván Márquez via Philippe Sandler. The Spaniard tapped the ball in from close range: 1-0. NEC then remained the parent without profiting. Thus, Tavsan failed face to face with Stankovic. Landry Dimata took care in the 66e minute for the 2-0.

He got the ball from the excellent Tannane and hit it. The midfielder saw a free kick just skim over the intersection moments later. Substitutes Walid Ould-Chikh and Henk Veerman were given opportunities without success. So did Oristanio. He played himself pretty free, but the Italian did not have his sights sharp. Substitute Pedro Margues made the evening even more annoying in stoppage time: 3-0.
