Maybe you have come across the Zoetermeerse Sharmaine Pex. She worked in shops such as the Sierhop and Expo in the Stadshart. And now as a photographer at Empire Photo studio in the Dorpsstraat.
Sharmaine lives in the Seghwaert district and she loves her city. She is happy to share her favorite places in Zoetermeer.
Prielenbos
Sharmaine likes to be in the Prielenbos. This is a small nature reserve near the North Aa with various insects, plants and trees. She usually takes her camera to photograph colorful beetles and rare butterflies. “I completely relax there. It is a beautiful place in nature, yet close to the city.”

The Hof van Seghwaert
Sharmaine lives with her boyfriend in a maisonette in the Gardenbuurt in Seghwaert. She sees pear orchard De Hof van Seghwaert as her backyard. “In this garden it looks like you’re on vacation,” says Sharmaine. “You can pick pears in the season and buy homemade products in the shop. I come for honey and pear juice, among other things. I think it’s fantastic.”

Dorpsstraat
For her photography work, Sharmaine can be found every day in the Empire photo studio in the Dorpsstraat. In breaks or in her spare time, she likes to walk through the cozy shopping street. “I get fantastic bread at Black Bird Bakery or a piece of cheese at ‘t Kaashuys. For a nice topped Italian sandwich I take a seat at Trattoria Casali and for nice gifts and second -hand stuff I like to sniff at your place. In the Dorpsstraat I find everything I like and delicious.
