From the fire in Hong Kong to hunger in Gaza: these photos have a chance to win the title of World Press Photo 2026

In Hong Kong, 168 people died in a fire in a residential complex. The image that photographer Tyrone Siu shot of it now has a chance to become World Press Photo of the year. The photo has been nominated together with other equally impressive entries. The winner will be announced on April 23.
