Travelers can use the new express bus (line 127) between Emmen and Hoogeveen at the end of this month. This allows students, employees and visitors to commute faster between the two cities of Drenthe.
Making a trip between Emmen and Hoogeveen was already possible with line 27, but that ride takes an hour and goes through forty stops. The express bus will soon do that for twenty minutes faster, crosses the highway (A37) and has a lot less stops.
The demand for a fast connection came in particular from entrepreneurs and schools from both cities. That lobby helped, because the OV agency Groningen-Drenthe ultimately responded to the request. The bus will run from 25 August.
The bus departs seven times a day from both stations in the morning and afternoon rush hour, the quick bus does not run during the weekend. In Hoogeveen, the bus stops near the town hall, TVM/Unigarant and Buizerdlaan. In Emmen there are stops at the Hoenderkamp, Greenwise Campus and the hospital.
In the past there was already a quick bus between Emmen and Hoogeveen. De Lijn eventually stopped in 2012, because it was not used enough. Over the years that has changed and the return was high on the wish list.
