What is Youca Action Day?
Youca Action Day has been around for 19 years and this year around 15,000 young people from Flanders and Brussels are participating. They each earn 60 euros, all of which goes to charity. This year’s campaign focuses on the theme of climate justice, in collaboration with Amnesty International and the Peruvian youth organization MANTHOC. In Belgium, Youca supports sustainability projects, such as mini-forests in schools and workshops on forest management through Forest Front.
Participating students choose their ‘dream job for a day’, from assistant surgeon to city architect and from zookeeper to journalist, and thus gain a unique insight into the labor market.
