Moderator Alexander Bommes has decided to reduce his missions so that the sports show receives prominent growth: Alex Schlüter joins the team.
Schlüter starts as a moderator of the show at the beginning of the new Bundesliga season. The 40-year-old has long been a fixture in sports journalism: after eight years as a formative face at “DAZN”, he recently presented the live broadcasts of the football champions League at “Prime Video”. Now Schlüter is starting a new chapter of his career at ARD.

“Even as a young boy I sat in front of the television with big eyes and virtually absorbed the ARD sports show – now I have grown by a few centimeters, and the ARD still stands for special sports moments and real emotions”said Alex Schlüter: “The fact that I can now be part of this editorial team makes me very proud. I will bring in all my passion and experience – with respect for history and full of anticipation of what comes.”
ARD sports coordinator Axel Balkausky about the new addition: “We are very happy to have found a likeable, eloquent and versatile moderator in Alex Schlüter, which, with all his experience and creativity, will be a great reinforcement for our sports show team.”
Bommes sets new priorities
Alexander Bommes has decided to concentrate more on other topics, apart from sport. In the team of the Bundesliga sports show, he will stay and still moderate there, but the farewell to live sport is certain: “The decision to withdraw from my day -to -day business after such a beautiful and unique 15 years was very difficult for me. But after all the experience, a time has come when I would like to go on and to set other focus. Of course, it is also: I will always be an athlete and a traditionalist, and that’s why I am very grateful to stay part of our great team on Christmas Saturday.”

Alex started with us as a volunteer and then shaped the Bundesliga sports show and our big events in his many years.
