Michael Willemsen had little Guus Offerhaus, now 24 years old, under his care with MOC. “Together with my son Joep, among others.”
An old team photo is looked up in an anniversary book. There he is: as a player of the F3. Willemsen: “Guus was a little younger than the others, but always came to the training on time. In the hope that he could also participate. That was of course allowed. He always had a ball on his foot, on a string too. He was enthusiastic, friendly and eager.”
‘Guus has written history’
Bobeldijk: “He quickly shot a ball on the bar from 30 meters.” After a few years, Offerhaus left for the Hoornia Hollandia to end up at Telstar via SC Heerenveen, FC Emmen, Koninklijke HFC and Quick Boys. He can still be found regularly at MOC, where his brothers Stan and Mees play in the first team.
Willemsen is happy for his former pupil. Offerhaus is the first former player of the village association who has made it to professional football. “He has written history. For Telstar and for MOC.”
