Soenens, born in Ingelmunster and now living in Ghent, noticed that many people are looking for an interpretation. “People are worried, they see that the world tilts and want to understand what’s going on,” he says. “I try to guide them in it.”
For Soenens it was a special experience to be back in his native region. “The former figures come back to life. Perhaps half of them have already died. Many old places have disappeared. It is the parable of life: returning and realizing that nothing stays and everything passes,” he says.
