The streaming service “DAZN”, which is currently broadcasting most of the Champions League games, came away empty-handed in the auction for the new TV rights. The competition will run on “Paramount+” and “Amazon” from 2027.

From 2027, football fans will again need several subscriptions to watch the live broadcasts of the Champions League. The UC3 is a joint venture between UEFA and European Football Clubs (EFC) Media rights for the 2027/28 to 2030/31 seasons were sold to the US broadcasters “Paramount+” and “Amazon”. The streaming service “DAZN”, which has been broadcasting the games so far, and “Sky”, which also bid, come away empty-handed. Several media outlets reported this unanimously.

Accordingly, the top game will be shown on “Paramount+” on Tuesdays from 2027, and “Amazon” will show the top game on Wednesdays. “Paramount+” bought all the remaining games on Tuesday and Wednesday. If a German team reaches the final, it must be shown on free-to-air television in Germany.

“DAZN” takes over the Europa League and Conference League

The TV rights to the Europa League and the Conference League went to “DAZN”. These will still be with “RTL” until 2027.

The current distribution in Germany will remain the same until the end of the coming season. “Amazon” is showing the top game on Tuesday on Prime Video. All other matches are broadcast on the internet channel “DAZN”, which is also subject to a fee, and fans can only watch the final free of charge on ZDF.

There were four major live broadcast rights packages at the auction, which was conducted by US agency Relevent on behalf of UC3. For Relevent, as the successor to the long-term marketer Team, it was the first tender in Europe. The agency with its London-based football subsidiary started the bidding competition in mid-October.
