The four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome was released from the hospital eight days after his violent accident.
The Briton published a photo on social media that shows him hand in hand with his daughter Katie in the hall of the clinic. Froome had suffered a tear of the pericardium in the accident on August 28, which was found in an operation in the Sainte Anne Toulon military hospital in France.
Now he was “relieved to leave the hospital and go home today,” wrote the 40-year-old. In his post, he also thanked the clinic staff.
In the accident, Froome crashed into a traffic sign, no further cycling professionals or vehicles were involved. First, a pneumothorax, i.e. an accumulation of air between the lungs and the breast wall, had been determined during investigations. It was also said that the professional of the Israel Prime Minister Tech had suffered fractures on five ribs and in the lumbar area.
