Clarebout Patatoes started modestly in 1988, with the transformation of the potato trade into a real factory in Nieuwkerke, immediately the headquarters of the family business. The focus is on frozen fries, croquettes and other potato products. A second production site in Waasten, just across the language border, soon followed.

In 2022, the company achieved an annual turnover of more than 1 billion euros for the first time, thanks to the takeover of competitor Mydibel in Mouscron. In 2023, Clarebout opened a fourth factory in Dunkirk, France. Annual production now amounts to more than 1.4 million tons of fries per year, which are exported to more than 120 countries worldwide.
