The climate protection movement Fridays For Future has called for a global climate strike this Friday. In Germany alone, there are said to be demonstrations in around 200 cities, including Berlin.

8,000 participants have registered for the protest in the capital. The author Marc-Uwe Kling (“The Kangaroo Chronicles”) and the band Von Wegen Lisbeth are to appear. The demonstration starts at 12 noon in Invalidenpark and leads through the government district.

Fridays For Future calls for “making politics for people, not profits”. A special fund of 100 billion euros is needed to relieve people, “radically expand” renewable energies and quickly implement a consistent turnaround in traffic.

All people must be guaranteed permanent access to affordable energy. Climate justice must also be established internationally, and debt relief for poor countries is unavoidable.
