Ski jumper Selina Freitag gave the German team a podium finish for the first time in a competition on the Two Nights Tour. The 24-year-old managed distances of 127 and 135.5 meters in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and only had to admit defeat to the Slovenian winner Nika Prevc in second place.

Prevc (136.5 and 134.5 meters) outclassed the entire competition in the last competition of 2025. The Japanese Nozomi Maruyama, who led the overall World Cup, came third.

“I’m really enjoying it right now. I was a little nervous, but then I thought: I’m looking forward to it. It’s really cool in this weather,” said Freitag on “ZDF” about the competition in front of around 5,000 spectators. After Katharina Schmid’s third place in Engelberg, it was only the German women’s second podium finish this winter. Friday proudly pumped his fist at the audience.

Bigger backdrop than last year

After Friday, Agnes Reisch and Schmid, who finished tied for eighth place, also made it into the second round of the best 20 jumpers. “It’s really fun, the weather is perfect and there are spectators,” said Schmid.

The crowd was visibly larger than last year, when around 3,000 supporters were at the jump. At that time the competition took place under floodlights after the men’s qualification, this time before in sunshine.

Last edition of the Two Nights Tour?

The two-night tour with competitions on the two German ski jumps of the Four Hills Tournament will be held for the third time. Prevc is on track to win the event for the third time. The second competition of the two-night tour awaits in Oberstdorf on New Year’s Day (4:15 p.m./ZDF and Eurosport).

Next year the format will be replaced by a Four Hills Tournament for women. The traditional event around the turn of the year is taking place exclusively for men for the 74th time this winter.
